3 Reasons to Get Outside & Enjoy Yourself

People can get majorly stagnated by just staying indoors focused on the task at hand. Parked in seat all day, only getting up to go to the bathroom, or the front door for some food they ordered. Life is bigger than that !! Get up, walk around, and explore the world around you. Here’s 3 key reasons to get outside and enjoy yourself.

1) Vitamin D (fancy terminology for Sunlight)

Sunny Days & Blue Skies. What’s better than this?

Not only is it nice to bask in the warm rays of the sun from time to time, but it’s also healthy for you! Get up off the couch and take a walk outside. Get a little tan. People who are low on Vitamin D appear to have weaker immune systems, making you more susceptible to all sorts of common ailments that I assume you’d rather avoid.

People low in Vitamin D have also shown to be more likely to experience anxiety and depression. I’m not a doctor — I do think this could be more of a chicken and egg situation wherein you not getting outside could make you more depressed as opposed to Vitamin D itself, but either way you can break that trend by getting up and taking a walk. Try it out sometime.

2) See Wildlife

Birds & Nature

Depending on where you are, you might be able to see some cool nature. All sorts of different creatures are out there just chilling! Birds, deer, squirrels, iguanas, and who knows what else depending on where you’re located geographically. Seeing animals going around living their natural lives is therapeutic — they don’t really have problems the way you and I do.

Their day to day is go find food, go find water, avoid a predator, find a mate, and just chill the rest of the day. They live shorter lives than most of us. They spend all day just doing. We humans have the propensity to get caught up in future problems and issues, many of which will never occur in real life. The next time you’re outdoors and see a bird fly by, just appreciate it — the way it moves, where it’s going, and why. Always puts me in a good mental state.

3) Get Inspired

New Routes

Would you believe, walking around has been shown to have scientific benefits beyond physical health? Walking has been shown to reduce cortisol levels (chemical which regulates stress), nurtures creativity, and increases problem solving skills. This is anecdotal, but many of my best ideas, including starting RGP, happened while outside taking walks.

Taking your mind into a new place and letting it wander along with you has tangible benefits. Contrast that with spending most of your day in the same spot, in the same room, sitting down. The blood ain’t flowing !!! Where will the good ideas come from??? My personal analysis is not the most scientific on Earth, but the results speak for themselves. Next time you’re in a rut, get outside and take a spin around the block. You may be surprised at the results.
